I currently teach music from my home near Camberley in a dedicated music studio with ample parking.
I studied at Trinity College of Music in London for three years where I gained two teaching diplomas LTCL Flute and LTCL Bassoon. I have an up-to-date DRB certificate and have also completed and passed a Safeguarding Children Course.
I am a full member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians and I am listed on their list of recommended music teachers.
I currently teach flute, bassoon, oboe, recorder and music theory. I enjoy teaching students of all ages from six to adult. I am happy to teach beginners right through to those students who wish to make their career in music.
I aim to help all my students develop to their full potential on their instrument of choice. I have high standards and expect my students to practise but understand that time can be limited in today's busy world.
A high percentage of my pupils choose to take graded examinations with either ABRSM or Trinity College. I have had a 100% pass rate with my pupils who have taken exams in the last five years. Although these exams provide a structure for improvement and can motivate students, I do not consider that they should be the entire focus for learning. There are many students who don't wish to take exams and still progress equally well providing that they are motivated. It is important that each student enjoys playing their instrument and through this can develop a long lasting love of music. I always encourage my pupils (if they wish!) to join local orchestras and ensembles as this develops aural skills, team work and cooperation but very importantly, gives huge enjoyment. There are many groups locally both for children and adults.
